Message from the
President
I greet you warmly in the Name of Jesus Christ, our
Lord and Master.
On behalf of the members of the Executive and the staff
of the Conference, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the
official website of The Bahamas Conference of the Methodist
Church.
The Bahamas is a very diverse nation. We have hundreds
of islands and cays, each one unique and special in some
distinct way. Our Methodist Church is very much like this:
From Inagua in the Deep South to Grand Bahama in the North.
Each of our 34 churches adds their unique flavour to the
Conference. Some of our churches are very small in numbers
membership wise; some of our churches have a large
congregation. Some of our churches have a good team of lay
Preachers and a few of our churches do not have any.
Some churches have a lively contemporary and somewhat
charismatic worship style and others are more formal in their
worship. We are many and yet we are one. A familiar calypso
song says it quite well in Bahamian dialect: “All ‘a we is one family, all ‘a we is
one!”
In addition to our 34 churches the BCMC also has two
Schools, A Children’s Home, a Home for Older Persons, Camp
Symonette in Eleuthera and the Andros Mission – Camp Make
Peace in Andros. Information on these institutions is
available through this site.
Thank you for visiting our Web Site. We will be happy
to share our experiences with you. More than that, we will be
happy to share the love of God with you and would like to hear
from you. My prayer is that you will have a day filled with
peace, hope and joy.
